Akai today officially announced the release of their new MPCKEY61 - the first sampling keyboard for quite some time from them. Essentially this is an MPC LIVE but with a 61 Key velocity and Aftertouch enabled keybed as well as a set of pads. Also new is the upping of the internal RAM from 2GB to 4GB making the loading of full keyboard sample based sounds more fluid. Note: Internal on board storage is: 32GB storage with 16 gb of sample library. This can be expanded with your own SSD Its running the same 2.11 MPC OS that was released earlier this month, which adds a lot of sound browsing features for the included 6400 patches - all this was great for the MPC format machines but now kind of makes more sense when you are using this as a keyboard. The same for easy storing of favourites - for quick recall in a performance scenario, Splits and layers are also straightforward making this a viable option for a stage keyboard - class compliant USB can add more MIDI and audio interfacing too. On board SSD and room for expansion if you need more space - it's all as you would expect with all the features of the MPC LIVE and more. We also have 8 discrete CV/Gate outs on minijack for modular hookup, four audio outputs, 2 inputs for sampling and processing, MDI in/out/thru/ We had a visit from Andy Mac from Akai Pro to give us a look at the new machine. It's going to be shipping right now, priced at £1699, $1899, €1999 More information: akaipro.com #soniclab #akai #mpckey61 Exclusive extra content on Patreon 🤍 Frozen Reverbs Racks for Live: 🤍 Subscribe to Sonicstate on YouTube for new content! 🤍 Watch Sonicstate's Exclusive Series: Sonic LAB: 🤍 Meet The Makers: 🤍 Sonicstate Performances: 🤍 Sonic TALK Podcast: 🤍 NAMM 2020: 🤍 Website: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 Facebook: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 Podcast/iTunes: 🤍

Now why would Akai only make this keyboard's audio interface sample rate 44.1k? But you can export wave files in 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96k. Which really doesn't make any since that they didn't create the digital output via USB with the same sample rates. I'm confused by that. So, I must create all my songs on the keyboard first. Export the multi-tracks as 96k wave files, then bring them into my DAW and remix the whole project again. Doesn't make sense at all. DAGGG! I had extremely high hopes for this board too.

Akai just dropped the MPC KEY61. Let's check this new workstation keyboard out, focusing on the hardware. It's more powerful than the previous versions of the MPC's and it also comes with a lot of brand new instruments. As a current MPC user, this one brings a new but yet familiar workflow to the beat making process. I think it's a great studio piece and all the new updates we got in the 2.11 update enables this one to be a beast of a device for people like me. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this - Let's get into it in the comment section! Thanks for supporting what I do here. The Akai MPC Key 61 has been a rather polarizing keyboard. It is the new kid on the block battling for marketshare amongst Korg, Yamaha, Roland and Kurzweil. How is this new workstation keeping up with the established keyboard brands? Watch this five month review of this powerful keyboard. Akai has decided to take the MPC platform and create a Keyboard Sampler Workstation out of it. No longer are they competing simply with other "grooveboxes" in the marketplace but they are competing with the major players in the performance synth and workstation categories. Specifically the big three Yamaha, Roland and Korg. These manufacturers have some powerful keyboards on the market. The Fantom, Fantom-0, Montage, MODX, Kronos and Nautilus are all very strong keyboards that dominate this segment of the market. How does the new MPC Key 61 match up? Let's take a look. If you would like to contact me directly. Feel free to contact me at: darrickkeels🤍gmail.com
